Nepahwin Boathouse:
Stewart Beach
MSOA Projects
The main idea behind our boathouse was to create a structure that inspired fishing itself. Therefore, the boathouse became a fishing retreat, incorporating structural elements such as the glulam beam curved roof design and the curved wall element to mimic the internal structure of a boat. Being situated on Lake Nepahwin, it was essential that the fishing retreat could be utilized in all four seasons, particularly in winter when the lake freezes. A secondary objective was to create a public space with very private elements, so we split the two into an upper and lower level where the bottom level would house the boat and canoes, along with any equipment necessary for a day on the lake, whilst the top level would be a more public rental space, with bedrooms and a kitchen.
